our anthem

fearless, Spirit lives within her, joyous, confident, living for heaven, wonder, childlike faith, passionate, genuine, complete in His love, authentic, real

These are just some of the words that come to mind when a group of women brainstorm what it means to live a life fully alive.

God instilled a unique purpose in each of us to claim our anthem, and most importantly, live it.

Now, I am not talking about stringing some fancy words together that sound inspiring and paint a pretty picture of what a perfect cookie cutter life would look like. That would be boring and useless. I am talking about shaping a promise to one's self and God that motivates us to live boldly, intentionally, and beautifully for Christ.

In Galatians 5:1, Paul writes, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Do we claim the freedom that Christ has won for us in his sacrifice on the cross? He longs for us to celebrate the joy of His victory over death. He believes in our dreams, and He desires to fulfill them in such a way that surpasses all our expectations.

Too often, we let Satan rob us of our freedom.

We feel trapped in our busyness losing a sense of intentionality in our commitments and relationships. We become frustrated with the timing or direction of God's plan, diminishing our trust in Him. We feel consumed by the world's pleasures. We feel as if we are too much and not enough at the same time. We doubt our gifts. We allow fear to swarm our hearts and minds, keeping us from making brave decisions and speaking bold words of truth.

I'm overwhelmed just reading that - whew!

The other day I was sharing with a friend how I recently felt the Holy Spirit speaking truth over me, reminding me that I am living in the light. The first thing she said to me was, "CLAIM IT! Don't let Satan speak lies into God's truth."

I quickly realized how easy it is to let lies sneak in stealing our freedom and our joy. To that thought, I respond: HECK NO.

We will have desert seasons in our lives, no doubt. Times of suffering. Times of grief. And there is growth and beauty in those times. But when Christ calls us into the light, redeeming us from the pit, breathing new life into our souls - let's rejoice!

Let's claim the light.

Living a life fully alive in Christ means leaning into the suffering AND dancing for joy! We can live with abandon because Jesus Christ has set us free.

Here's my anthem:

Living a life fully alive in Christ means equal parts laughter & tears
Pursuing adventure because God's dreams will always be bigger than mine
Claiming freedom from my past & sustaining hope for my future
Loving generously without expectations
Forgiving especially when it's difficult
Speaking truth over the world's lies without letting fear quiet my spirit or slow me down
Believing in my unique purpose instilled by God
Embracing messy hair & a messy life
Celebrating God's glory in the big & small
Singing over Christ's love that defines & completes me

What's your anthem?
